Abstract
This article discusses the San Vicente Pipeline Project, a key component of the San Diego County Water Authority's Emergency Storage Project. The pipeline is the final link between the county's three emergency water storage facilities that include Olivenhain Reservoir, Lake Hodges, and San Vicente Reservoir. The new pipeline distributes water from the San Vicente Reservoir to other member agencies and links the San Vicente Reservoir to the Water Authority's Second Aqueduct. It also reserves emergency water at San Vicente Reservoir for access at a peak transfer rate of 384 ft3/s, and conveys the main supply of emergency storage water to the city of San Diego and communities in southern San Diego County. The tunneling construction of the pipeline is described, along with a brief overview of background information on the San Diego County Water Authority.
