Abstract
Recent results on pion production from proton-nucleus collisions at the Moscow Meson Factory are presented and compared with previous data. Two main topics are discussed: the pion production below the free NN threshold and the long-standing problem of the anomalous production of π+ near 350 MeV, for which a definite evidence of a narrow resonance has been obtained.
