Abstract

Recent developments in the field of pion-nucleus interactions are reviewed. More sophisticated experimental and theoretical techniques are now being applied to outstanding problems, such as the detailed nature of pion absorption in nuclei. Current puzzles, as well as recent successes, are emphasized. The importance of including closely related reactions, such as photopion production, in descriptions of pion-induced reactions is stressed.
