Abstract

A fabrication method for square lens arrays together with their application to integral photography is presented. Our square lens arrays are fabricated by a technique similar to the fabrication of cylindrical lens arrays that was reported in Opt. Rev. 19 (2012) 287. This technique features the easy control of the pitch and radius of curvature of the lens arrays. The lens pitches in both transverse and longitudinal directions are controlled by adjusting the interval of partition walls created by scratching a polymeric substrate with a sharp edge. The radius of curvature is controlled by adjusting the volume of the ultra-violet curable polymer deposited into square apertures formed by the partition walls. The vertices of the partition walls prevent the spreading of the polymer owing to the pinning effect. It is also demonstrated that our square lens array succeeded in realizing three-dimensional integral printing.
