Abstract

Insecticide experiments conducted in the Laguna area of Mexico in 1961 established that DDT alone is no longer effective against the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), in that region. Carbaryl and a mixture of Guthion®, O,O-dimethyl S-(4-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazin-3(4H)-ylmethyl) phosphorodithioate, plus DDT gave excellent pink bollworm control and were slightly more effective than a mixture of benzene hexachloride plus DDT.
