Abstract

A Mach-Zehnder interferometer using a pulsed Nd-YAG laser (600mJ, 532nm, 8ns) was implemented to measure the electron density and the dimensions of the pinch column in two sub-kJ compact plasma focus devices operating at hundred joules (PF-400J) and tens of joules (PF-50J).
