Abstract

A major concern for healthcare systems during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is the scarcity of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds to attend critically ill patients. Reduced mobility of citizens in Colombia, represents a risk of reduction in influenza vaccination. Vaccination is known to reduce hospitalization of patients for influenza-associated disease. The objective is to calculate the potential ICU beds non-available to attend COVID-19 given the potential lower influenza vaccine coverage, and its consequent costs, from a healthcare payer perspective.
