Abstract

Abstract A pilot-scale wet scrubber was designed and tested for simultaneous absorption of NO and SO2 using hexamminecobalt(II) solution. The effects of inlet NO concentration, SO2 concentration, and hexamminecobalt(II) concentration in liquid on the NO and SO2 removal efficiency were experimentally determined. Results show that the NO removal efficiency increased with increasing NO inlet concentration, but decreased with increasing inlet SO2 concentration. The SO2 removal efficiency also slightly increased, and it could reach 90% and above. The NO removal efficiency increased with increasing hexamminecobalt(II) concentration. The experimental results can provide guidance to the design of a large-scale real industrial facility for simultaneous removal of NOx and SO2 using hexamminecobalt(II) solution.
