Abstract

Approximately 5% of children carry a penicillin (PCN) allergy label. Less than 10% of reported reactions are estimated to be IgE-mediated. Current guidelines recommend formal evaluation of all patients with unconfirmed PCN allergy labels, and dedicated PCN allergy clinics have proved to be effective for de-labeling. We piloted a new PCN allergy clinic utilizing telemedicine services to provide prompt PCN allergy evaluation.
