Abstract

A tumor of the toe comparable to the barber's interdigital pilonidal sinus is described. The patient was a male hairdresser who presented a tender mass at the base of one toe. Paring of the tumor revealed a central cavity containing a long curled up hair in the center of a pool of purulent material. It is postulated that the lesion was the result of a customer's hair that had been forced into the skin producing a foreign body reaction.
