Abstract

In order to estimate and compare the long-term effectiveness of lamotrigine (LTG), valproate (VPA) and levetiracetam (LEV) monotherapy in treatment of newly-diagnosed juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME), the following study was performed. Methods: Medical records of 138 children and adolescents suffering from JME were analyzed. Sixty-one of them were on VPA monotherapy, 43 on LEV, and 34 on LTG. Mean age of the patients was 13.1years (range: 10–18years). The mean time of treatment was 32months, time of observation 50months.
