Abstract

The variance of fluorescence with a modulating strain field is obtained for single crystals of anthracene at 298 K. Front surface emission and excitation spectra from the (001) face are reported. The relative piezoemission spectra may be related to the derivative of the emission spectra. The piezoexcitation spectra show structure which may be related to both the anthracene and the defect dimer spectra; crystal splittings along the a and b axes are also observed.
