Abstract

Pb [(Zn 1/3Nb 2/3) 0.93Ti 0.07] O 3(PZNT 93/7) single crystals 40 mm diameter were grown by solution Bridgman method. The prerequisites for growth of PZNT 93/7 single crystals are higher melting temperature, longer melting time than Pb [(Zn 1/3Nb 2/3) 0.91Ti 0.09] O 3 (PZNT 91/9) and ZnO addition. The Curie temperature is 155–175°C and the temperature, which corresponds to rhombohedral–tetragonal phase change, T rt, is higher than 110°C for PZNT 93/7 single crystal. The T rt corresponds to the degradation boundary temperature of electromechanical coupling coefficient, k 33, also. The sensitivity degradation of ultrasonic transducers using PZNT 93/7 single crystal can be prevented up to a high temperature, about 100°C. Therefore, the results indicated that PZNT 93/7 has good potential for application in the mass production of ultrasonic transducers.
