Abstract
A new excitation method of a piezoelectric actuator using asymmetric input voltage waves is proposed. By electrical pulse driving, taking account of the vibrational periodic time of a piezoelectric vibrator, an asymmetric vibrational displacement in the time process can be made possible that has no accompanying residual vibration in the vibrator. Applying such an asymmetric vibrational response, it is possible to construct some actuators. Analysis in the displacement of such an actuator driven by a rectangular pulse with stepped form, its application to actuators and its experimental results are reported.
