Abstract

A new spot test for stannous tin has been evolved, using the ammonium salt of 6-nitro-2-naphthylamine-8-sulphonic acid as reagent, an intense blue fluorescence being produced under ultraviolet light. Of 47 metallic ions tested only Sn +2 fluoresced under the conditions of the test, as little as one microgram being capable of detection.
