Abstract

In anaphase, entangled DNA between segregating sister chromatids can give rise to DNA threads known as ultrafine anaphase bridges (UFBs). To prevent genome instabilities, UFBs are resolved by a complex protein pathway. It has been proposed that a key step in UFB resolution is the remodeling of nucleosomes by the SNF2 protein PICH. However, direct evidence of nucleosome remodeling by PICH remains elusive. Here, we present a single-molecule assay that recapitulates chromatin re-organization during UFB resolution.
