Abstract

Korea uses two medical systems: Western medicine and Oriental medicine. This paper concentrates on herbal medicines, which are part of Oriental medicine. Herbal medicines are regulated by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. A registration dossier is required for new herbal medicines; requirements of that dossier are covered here. Also covered are herbs as raw materials, definitions of herbal medicine versus health foods, distribution channels, advertising, and pricing systems.
