Abstract

This stud aims to determine the active compound and antifeedant activity of langsat leaf extract against Plutella xylostella and Spodoptera litura larvae. Langsat leaves were taken from Singosari, East Java, Indonesia. The preparation of langsat leaf extract was macerated with methanol. The active compound content of langsat leaf extract was analyzed by LCMS. Total phenol and flavonoid were measured by the spectrophotometric method. Antifeedant activity was tested on P. xylostella and S. litura 3rd instar larvae using the choice method. Feed leaves were soaked in various concentrations of langsat leaf extract and repeated eight times. The results show 111 compounds in the methanol extract and 98 in.the chloroform extract of langsat leaves. The total phenol of langsat leaf extract is 33.9 mg/mL, and the total flavonoid is 21.24 mg/mL. Treatment with concentrations of 5% and 10% extract present the highest antifeedant activity against P. larvae. Meanwhile, the treatment of S. litura larvae with a concentration of 40% shows the highest antifeedant activity. The finidngs suggest that differences in solvent extracts caused differences in the number of active compounds, and langsat leaf extract potential to be an antifeedant against P. xyostela and S. litura larvae.
