Abstract

In this research, content and chemical composition of aerial parts essential oil of Anthemis wiedemanniana Fisch. and C.A.Mey. (Asteraceae) at different developmental stages including vegetative, flowering and initial fruiting stages is reported. The obtained oils by hydro distillation method (Clevenger apparatus) of dried samples were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The results showed that the essential oils of A. wiedemanniana were affected by plant growth stages. Therefore, it was different both in content and their constituents in the plant phenological stages. The highest yield amount of A. wiedemanniana essential oil belonged to the flowering stage (3 %). Totally, 13 constituents with the range of 0.77-25.03 % in the vegetative, 15 constituents with the range of 0.46-44.31 % in the flowering and 16 constituents with the range of 0.49-41.49 % in the initial fruiting stages were identified. In this study, the highest amount of essential oil constituents in vegetative stage belonged to 2-pentanone (25.03 %), β-eudesmol (15.01 %), spathulenol (11.58 %) and α-farnesene (7.34 %) , in the flowering stage, 2-pentanone (36.53 %), α-farnesene (7.01 %) and caryophyllene oxide (6.73 %) and in the stage of initial fruiting stage, 2-pentanone (41.49 %), α-farnesene (10.88 %), caryophyllene oxide (6.88 %), β-sesquiphellandrene (4.49 %) and spathulenol (4.34 %). The results can be used for determining optimal harvesting times of this plant for relevant industries.
