Abstract

Abstract The aim of this chapter is to discuss the multiple roles of phyiotherapists and occupational therapists in the assessment and management of children with JIA as the disease evolves over time. The chapter emphasizes that the role of therapists is not only to address the physical functioning of the child, but working with other health care professionals to help optimize the child’s overall wellbeing and psychosocial health. Occupational therapists (OTs) and physiotherapists (PTs) comple- ment the drug therapy of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), by focusing on the symptoms of rheumatic diseases and attempting to prevent disability.
