Abstract

SummaryQuantitative amounts of greenbug (Schizaphis graminum Rondani) feeding stress on the first foliar leaf of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) caused a severe detrimental decline in chlorophyll content and in the rate of photosynthesis. The stress produced an increase in the rate of respiration but no change in leaf area, fresh weight, or dry weight during 7 days of controlled infestation.
