Abstract

The "auto de fe" was a complex ceremony constantly used by the Inquisition in its battle against the heresy, but at the same time that celebration amounted to a suitable occasion to show the society the strong inquisitorial power. In this article, we have intended to analyse the "autos particulares", a less spectacular ritual type, although not ineffectual because of it, acquiring, in fact, a growing importance since the XVII th century on.
