Abstract

Canadian physicists are set to share in a cash windfall of C$779m (about £344m) that was announced at the end of January by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), writes Peter Gwynne. The CFI – a nonprofit agency that supports the country's research infrastructure – awarded money to 72 projects at a total of 31 institutions. The money pays for 40% of the cost of projects, with institutions required to find the rest of the cash from other sources.
