Physics of Solids-Plastic Flow

Abstract

T E papers published by von Karman in the fields of solid s tate physics and plastic flow represent a small fraction only of his scientific production. Each one of these papers, however, was an outstanding contribution which resulted in a bet ter understanding of very fundamental physical problems. Following a chronological order, von Karman ' s most impor tant contributions were on the plastic flow of brit t le materials under combined stresses, on the specific heat of solids, and on the propagation of plastic deformation in solids.
