Abstract

The College of Technology is a large six-storey building in the heart of Manchester, and its Physics department occupies parts of the north side of the ground floor and first floor. This is a relatively small part of the building, as might be considered appropriate for a subject such as physics in a college of technology. The tendency, however, is for the department to expand—a reflexion, perhaps, of the increasing part that physics is now taking in technology in the country as a whole.
