Abstract

The rheological properties of sodium alginate solutions were studied as influenced by the concentration of alginic acid, pH of the medium, and temperature. The probable structural and conformational transformations induced on varying these parameters were suggested. The effect of cations and anions of varied nature on the viscous characteristics of these solutions was discussed.
