Abstract
A complex of biologically active substances was isolated from birch bark (Betula pendula) by the method of supercritical fluid extraction. Phase and relaxation transitions (melting, crystallization, evaporation, glass transition) in the obtained samples have been studied by the method of differential thermal analysis in the range of 80–550 K. Betulin was isolated from CO2 extracts of birch bark and purified. Its heat capacity has been measured in the range of 80–350 K, and the temperatures of relaxation and phase transitions, as well as thermochemical characteristics (standard combustion and formation enthalpy), have been determined.
