Abstract

Crystal structures, crystallite sizes, aluminium profiles, Si Al and Al Na ratios of pentasil type zeolites were systematically studied for samples obtained by modifying the Argauer and the Grose synthetic methods. It is shown that the relationship between the aluminium—sodium content is quite different in the aluminium rich and the high Si Al region. The crystallographic orthorhombic—monoclinic transformation takes place for high Si Al ratio samples, while the orthorhombic symmetry is retained for dry air calcined samples characterized by low Si Al ratios. In addition, systematic differences are observed for the Si Al ratio, the aluminium depth profile and the crystallite sizes between the two types of synthesis.
