Abstract

Samples of water and soil were collected at. monthly and bimonthly intervals, respectively from four different rural fish ponds of Bhadrak District, Orissa for three years (1994-1997) and were subjected to analysis for different physicochemical parameters. The values obtained for different parameters were subjected to analysis of variance and multiple correlation to establish the interrelationship of some important hydrobiological parameters. The parameters like pH, dissolved oxygen, nitrate-nitrogen, phosphate-phosphorus and organic carbon were positively correlated to the plankton production which influences the productivity of the fish ponds.
