Part of the International Medical Corps (IMC), a Los Angelesbased nonprofit emergency relief organization, she waded into the chaotic postwar zone to assess the health care needs of the Iraqi people and organize aid for them. Despite the uncertain conditions she would find in Iraq, Fink sounded calm in the days before she caught a flight from her New York City home in early April.
