Abstract

Abstract Physical therapy is both a profession and a practice of medical care, which provides guided exercise therapy for rehabilitation and repair of muscles and joints. Physical therapy is used to treat certain congenital conditions, traumatic injuries, and following surgery to improve and sustain the mobility of joints and muscles. The increasing emphasis on recreational sports, the growing awareness of the effects of ergonomic stress in our workday environments, and a concern for the healthy aging of our increasing numbers of older people have brought increased focus on the benefits of physical therapists' interventions. This paper describes Internet sites offering assistance to consumers seeking more information about the various muscular and orthopedic conditions benefited by physical therapy, as well as guidance in specific exercises and additional resources for those needing further information.
