Abstract. The article presents the results of the analysis of the definition of the concept and the problems that arise due to the ambiguity of its interpretation when choosing the content of recreational activities. It is noted that the increase in the intensity of modern life simultaneously increases the level of the total load received by a person in the course of daily life and worsens his health. The position is put forward that it is physical recreation that provides the restoration of the body's vital forces and their maintenance in the process of daily life, taking into account. The factors of inclusion of various types of physical exercises in the content of recreational forms of training are determined and justified. Relevance. Physical activity may not always promote health and be synonymous with it. The reason for this paradox is the level of load received by a person in the process of life and characterized by the current indicators of the functioning of the body. The increase in the intensity of modern life observed in recent years increases the total load and leads to a decrease in the level of health. This requires careful selection of physical exercises and methods of their implementation. A special role in this process belongs to physical recreation, as a form of physical culture, which allows you to optimize the functional state of a person, its main mechanisms. The problem of research – excessive breadth of ideas about the content of physical recreation makes it difficult to achieve its main goal ‒ to restore the vitality of any person. Methods. To achieve the goal of this study, we studied the scientific works of domestic scientists dealing with the problems of physical recreation and foreign specialists in the field of health-improving physical culture. Results and discussion. The definition of is analyzed. The boundaries of the use of the concept under study and the main features that reflect it are established. The content aspect of physical recreation recommended for its implementation is studied. Discrepancies between the used tools and the main definitive features were revealed. The main health risks associated with the use of inadequate means of physical recreation are noted. Conclusions. The content of physical recreation should be based on exercises and activities that optimize the state of the regulatory mechanisms of the human body. The main requirements for the exercises used are to limit and prevent significant physical stress and the time of their implementation is individual for each student.
