Abstract

Abstract We have successfully fabricated micro-scale ring structures together with porous, bead, two-dimensional network structures of ( n -Bu 4 N) 2 [(dcbdt) 2 VO], (dcbdt = 4,5-dicyanobenzene-1,2-dithiolato), and ( n -Bu 4 N) 2 [(dmit) 2 Zn], (dmit = 2-thioxo-1,3-dithiole-4,5-dithiolate) on glass, magnesium oxide and silicon substrates using a simple and easy chemical deposition method under ambient or highly humidified conditions for the first time. Dipping process of ( n -Bu 4 N) 2 [(dmit) 2 Zn] under ambient condition gave well defined diamond and hexagonal shaped micro-sized crystals. On the other hand, under highly humidified condition micro-scale ring structure was obtained. ( n -Bu 4 N) 2 [(dcbdt) 2 VO] shows micro-scale ring, porous, bead and two-dimensional network structures depending on the nature of the substrates. Furthermore, changing the process from ambient to highly humidified condition diminishes the size of micro-scale rings by 10 times smaller. The micro-scale ring structure discovered in our study seems highly practical due to its simple and easy fabrication method. We believe this structure has the potential to serve as a new information storage and low cost nano-scale lithography as well as scientific research.
