Abstract

Densities, refractive indices, speeds of sound, excess molar volumes (VE), and deviations in molar refractions (ΔR) and isentropic compressibilities (Δκs) were determined for the system 1-butanol + methanol + 2-methoxy-2-methylpropane at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The values of VE, ΔR, and Δκs were satisfactorily correlated by the Redlich−Kister polynomial. These values were also predicted using several empirical equations from the values of their constituent binary subsystems, and the best results were obtained with the Kohler and the Radojkovic equations.
