Abstract

This paper presents a review of several communications which were presented during the meeting on Active Experiments in Space (Florence, 1984). The experimental results are connected with the study of the physical effects induced by particle beams artificially injected into space plasmas. Two main scientific topics are generally studied: either the spacecraft potential charging and discharging effects or the beam interaction with the background plasma. In the latter case, most of the emphasis is put on the waves generation and on the resulting modifications of thermal and suprathermal particle distribution functions.
