Abstract

Jungwon Precision Ind. (JPI) Co., Ltd. has recently developed precise carbon-interspaced antiscatter grids by adopting a sawing process in order to employ them to digital radiographic (DR) systems. Twelve grid samples were prepared; of those 12, 7 had strip densities ranging from 40 to 85 lines/cm at a xed grid ratio of 5:1 and 6 had grid ratios ranging from 5 : 1 to 10 : 1 at a xed strip density of 80 lines/cm. The physical characteristics of those samples were examined under well-controlled test conditions with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard xture in terms of the transmission of primary radiation (Tp), the transmission of scattered radiation (Ts), the transmission of total radiation (Tt), the selectivity ( ), the contrast improvement factor (Cif ) and the Bucky factor (B). We expect that these experimental results will be useful both for the selection of antiscatter grids for applications to DR imaging and for the improvement of grid design.
