Abstract

The characteristics of a territory are essential to define its economic and social aptitude, in addition to representing an important tool for developing actions, by public and private institutions, aimed at sustainable development and the social well-being of the population. The aim of the work was to carry out the physical and economic characterization of rural properties in the municipality of Corumbataí do Sul. The methodology applied in the work was descriptive exploratory research. The data were collected in databases from official bodies, public and private institutions and were later tabulated in an electronic spreadsheet and processed using simple statistics, analyzed descriptively and presented through tables and charts. The results showed that agricultural production is the main economic activity of the municipality, its territory is mainly made up of small rural properties, and presents a great physical limitation, such as the presence in a large part of its area of high levels of slope and fragile soils.
