Abstract

Different types of polyester fibres and filaments with valuable consumer properties are obtained by physical modification of PET. The fibres from chemically modified PET have high dyeability with disperse and cationic dyes, high thermal shrinkage, and low pilling in comparison to standard polyester. A polyester fibre with low combustibility (OI > 27) was made by incorporating fireproofing compounds in polycondensation of PET.
