Abstract

Summary While there is a growing public health promotion of physical activity altogether with an increasing concern for sedentary time and their respective health implications, confusions remain around these concepts that might limit the understanding and adoption of the actual recommendations by the general population. The aim of this brief paper is to clarify the semantic around physical activity, inactivity and sedentary behaviors, underlying their respective and complementary effects on overall health and to detail the actual recommendations.
