Abstract

PURPOSE: The study was to identify the physical activity and diet behavior patterns of U.S. adolescent girls with different weight status. METHOD: Data was derived from the 2012 National Youth Fitness Survey. A representative/weighted sample of 7,785,784 girls, aged 12-15 yr. old responded to both the physical activity and diet behavior and nutrition questionnaires. ANOVA analysis was applied to determine the difference in physical activity patterns and eating behaviors among girls with different weight status (underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obese defined by the CDC percentile classifications). RESULTS: Significant differences were detected in the physical activity and diet behaviors patterns, and the results are displayed in the table below:Table: No title available.CONCLUSION: Overweight and obese girls tended to have less vigorous work and more ready-to-eat food.
