Abstract
Abstract A description is provided for Physarum lakhanpalii . Some information on its associated organisms and substrata, habitats, dispersal and transmission, and conservation status is given, along with details of its geographical distribution (Africa (Madagascar, Tanzania), Central America (Panama), North America (Mexico), South America (Ecuador), Asia (China (Hong Kong, Hunan), Japan, Laos, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam), Australasia (Australia (Northern Territory)), Caribbean (Martinique), Europe (France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Norway, Spain), Indian Ocean (La Réunion, Seychelles)). Studies in Japan suggest that myxomycetes including this species may be useful as indicators of environmental pollution. No evaluation has been made of any possible positive economic impact of this organism and no reports of negative economic impacts have been found.
