Abstract
The paper presents an overview of the current state of studying the phylogeny and evolution of the largest taxonomic group of birds—the order Passeriformes. Phylogenetic relationships and problems of the classification of passerines according to the data of morphological and molecular studies are discussed. All the results on this issue obtained during the past 25 years are considered and summarized.
