Abstract

The attempt to describe the relationships within a small species group by means of phylogenetic systematics requires the taxonomic investigation of this group. Several apomorphic characters in the eleven species of the Erichsonius robustus-group which are known up to now, have led us to consider this group as a monophylum. These characters are: 1 – the great body length, 2 – a M- or double-M-shaped rear-egde of the VIII. sternite of males, 3 – a basal plate at the parameres, 4 – the tendency of females to develop a further bristle valve to a spine or the possession of more than two spines, respectivly, and 5 – thick hair cout at the inner egdes of the valves with y7 > 20 single hairs. After discussing methodical problems, the results of the phylogenetic analysis are presented in cladogramms and in the species hierarchy. The autapomorphic characters of each hierarchy level are discussed in detail.
