Abstract

Purpose: Current protocol in interstitial HDR brachytherapy requires CT imaging post MRI-guided needle/applicator insertion to visualize and localize needles for treatment planning. MRI is routinely acquired for segmentation of both the clinical target volumes (CTV) and the organs at risk (OARs), following CT-MRI registration. The purpose of this study is to develop and implement an MRI-only treatment planning (MRTP) approach that can potentially improve the clinical treatment planning process for interstitial HDR brachytherapy.
