Abstract

This paper presents the design of Photovoltaic (PV) watering plant system with Internet of Things (IoT) incorporated with soil moisture and air humidity for hydroponic plants namely water spinach, red spinach and mustard green plant. The input data of the soil moisture and humidity sensors would trigger the water pump in pumping water from the water tank to the plant when the sensors input data reaches below the threshold value and display the data onto Blynk application for monitoring purposes. The power measurement of PV system is implemented by measuring the voltage, current and power produced from the solar panel. Results show that the each soil moisture sensor is able to measure the moisture of each hydroponic plant with an average reading of 80% while the humidity sensor with the reading of 57.25% and 50.25% for both humidity sensor positioned on left and right respectively. This PV system using INA219 sensor was also able to perform the measurement while the solar panel is charging the battery. The proposed system indicates that the plant can be grown without the need of watering the plant physically which eases the workforce in modern agriculture.
