Abstract

The L.A.A.S. of C.N.R.S. in Toulouse (France) has been working for 2 yr on the design and the making-up of the prototype of a photovoltaic générator with concentration. Its characteristics are: output peak-power, 1 kW; natural air-convection cooling; 4 cm 2 Silicon cells; 40× concentration ratio. In this paper, we describe the main steps of the design, the more significant experimental results, and an estimation of the cost of manufacturing for the SOPHOCLE generator in its pre-industrial phase.
