Abstract
Studies of the feasibility of photovoltaic (PV) modules as a commercial building cladding component and the potential generating capacity in the UK have been carried out in 1992 within the UK Department of Trade and Industry, Renewable Energy Programme. It was found out that when taking into account the avoided cost of the building components replaced by PV laminates, PV cladding systems could be generating electricity at a cost as low as 0.063 Ecu/kWh by the year 2010. Furthermore, the potential generating capacity has been estimated to be able to provide up to 208 TWh of energy in 1995.
