Abstract

Three types of photothermal techniques are used to investigate the photophysical properties of the short-lived triplet states. The methods and advantages of these techniques are discussed. By using these advantages, the quantum yield of triplet formation, the lifetime and the energies of the ‘dark’ triplet states of phthalazine, pyridazine and C 60 (Buckminsterfullerene) are measured.
