Abstract

The influence of residual stress on thermal, thermoelastic, and elastic properties of silicon nitride ceramics is analyzed. The results of the multimode experimental investigations based on photodeflection, photoreflectance, and photoacoustic piezoelectric measurements of Vickers indented ceramics are presented. It is shown that residual stress does not strongly influence thermal properties of silicon nitride ceramics. The modified Murnaghan nonlinear thermoelastic model is used for estimation of the nonlinear thermoelastic and elastic properties of silicon nitride ceramics.
