Abstract

Bio-nanomotors The photosynthesis process has been studied widely for mimicking water splitting reaction but has never been utilized for powering supramolecular assemblies. In article number 2000028, Daniela A. Wilson and Motilal Mathesh demonstrate a bio-nanomotor fabrication by encapsulating thylakoid nanoparticles that can carry out the water-splitting reaction using visible light. The propulsion mechanism is based on bubble propulsion and photophoresis with complete control over motion and directionality.
